About me
Marina is originally from Argentina, where she earned a double bachelor’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and Translation. She initially planned to work full-time as a teacher while taking on occasional translation projects. However, after moving to the United States in 2000, she began working for a nonprofit organization in San Francisco. There, she witnessed firsthand how critical language access is for Spanish-speaking communities with limited English proficiency to obtain essential services. That experience sparked her commitment to translation as a tool for equity and access. To further specialize in the field, Marina later moved to Spain to pursue a master’s degree in Translation and Interpretation. Upon graduating, she returned to Argentina and worked at a translation startup before eventually relocating to the United States and continuing her career in the translation industry.
With more than 20 years of experience in the private sector, Marina felt drawn to bring her expertise back to mission-driven work where language access directly serves communities. She joined the Office of Environmental Justice to help advance environmental justice and ensure that disproportionately impacted communities have access to critical information and resources.
